What does Areté mean?
This is an ancient Greek word that embodies much more than any single word today.

Mighty Premium Theme

Arete (Greek: ἀρετή; pronounced /ˈærəteɪ/ in English), in its basic sense, means goodness, excellence, or virtue of any kind. In its earliest appearance in Greek language, this notion of excellence was ultimately bound up with the notion of the fulfillment of purpose or function: the act of living up to one's full potential. Arete in ancient Greek culture was courage and strength in the face of adversity and it was to what all people aspired.

Fishing for the Cure - Garrard's Gamefish & Gridiron Tourney

Mighty Premium Theme

Thanks to those who made Fishing for the Cure, our first official fundraiser, a great success! We caught loads of fish and, more importantly, we raised more than $100,000 toward our mission. We're already putting those dollars to work! We are currently working with Baptist Health and other non-profit organizations to identify financially disadvantaged families impacted by Breast Cancer and Crohn's Disease. We plan to focus on children impacted by these two diseases. Special thanks goes out to our sponsors for supporting our mission: Baptist Health, Winn-Dixie Stores, Suddath, Jacksonville Jaguars, Underwood's Jewelers, AV Logistics, Suddath, Dubow Family Foundation, Proximo Spirits, FRUGALRICH.COM, Anheuser-Busch, North Florida Sales, Florida Telco, Dalton Agency, PRI, Conch House Marina Resort, Pepsi, Coastal Angler Magazine, Strike Zone, Jacksonville Marine Association, the Florida Times-Union, the St. Augustine Record and Destination Planning.

Sincere thanks to the NFL players and coaches, ROAR Cheerleaders, players, cheerleaders and coaches from area schools and the 80+ volunteers who were there to lend a hand. Special thanks to the following sponsors who helped to make the camp possible: Chick-Fil-A, Pepsi Bottling Ventures, VYPE, Jacksonville Jaguars, Convergence, Cenplex Building Services, Hendrick's Auto Mall, PowerChalk, Hilton Raleigh-Durham Airport, Sam's Club and Bob Evans.
